Get your Popcorn and coke ready because the official trailer for the Guyanese Film ‘Whatever It Takes’ was released amidst a massive social media frenzy. The trailer has many excited patrons on the “edge of their seats” awaiting the official release of the full-length film. The action-packed drama film explores major social issues such as abuse, gun and gang violence, and drug trafficking. Between the all-star cast, fast-flowing action sequence, and cultural asterisks that dominate the authentically Guyanese scenery depicted in the trailer, the movie is an undeniable, must-see.
Perplexed by the lack of Guyanese films in POP culture, Film writer Laured Stewart decided to “be the change he wanted to see”. The Talented Film writer told Caribbean Entertainment Hub that he wrote the film in 2019 with the intention of speaking to the subconscious minds of the audience by addressing pressing social issues in a real and relatable manner. He further explained that he would often encourage on-set improvising since it allowed for more authentic storytelling.
Finance, personality and creative clashes, appropriation of locations and equipment were some minor hurdles that threatened the project. According to Stewart, he was, however, able to master what was the biggest challenge of all by finding a team that saw and supported his vision.

Laured Stewart
In an unorthodox procedure as relates to modern-day film making, Stewart explained that the directing and production of ‘Whatever It Takes’ was a collaborative effort involving the entire team. The project was independently funded by the film’s writer and his team and it is therefore critical to monetizing the project.
Even as final edits and discussions pertaining to rollout and promotional plans for the film ensue, there are already talks about a sequel. Stewart says that his aim is to impress the public so much so with this pilot project that sponsors will jump at the opportunity to come on board the next project, alleviating the financial strain on his team.
The fandom continues to grow as many await what promises to be an unforgettable theatrical journey that promises to take its audience on an emotional roller coaster emitting a feeling of national pride within Guyanese patriots.
We here at Caribbean Entertainment Hub share in the enthusiasm. We wish to congratulate the film’s writer and his team and promise to keep you our faithful readers fully informed as regards its launching and promotional schedule.
